False twist textured yarns: Principles, processing and applications
Colin AtkinsonA textured yarn is a continuous filament yarn that has been processed to introduce crimps, coils, loops or other fine distortions along the lengths of the filaments. Yarns can be textured by heat or air. Texturing is used to give synthetic yarns special properties such as stretch, bulk, increased warmth and the appearance of natural fibers. This collection begins with an introduction to textured yarns and the basic principles of texturing. Chapters then focus on one of the main processes used to produce textured yarns; false twist texturing. Subsequent chapters include texturing machine design, applications of textured yarns and the future opportunities for false twist texturing.
