This highly acclaimed contemporary Argentinian novel is the first in Giramondo's Literature of the South series, featuring innovative fiction & non-fiction by writers of the southern hemisphere. It is translated from Spanish by Australian translator Alice Whitmore

"All My Goodbyes is a virtuoso performance. A love story told in razor-sharp fragments, the novel lies at the intersection of memory, violence & trauma." — Katie Kitamura

All My Goodbyes is a novel told in overlapping vignettes, which follow the travels of a young Argentinian woman across Europe (Malaga, Madrid, Heidelberg, Berlin) & back to Argentina (Buenos Aires, Patagonia) as she flees from situation to situation, job to job, & relationship to relationship. She feels her identity is in pieces. Then, arriving in the southernmost region of Patagonia, she convinces herself she has found happiness, until she’s caught up in the horrific murders that haunt her story.

The novella is, as the title suggests, a catalogue of goodbyes, the result of a decade-long cycle of self-inflicted alienation which the narrator, despite herself, seems fated to perpetuate. In its structure it recalls the rich Argentinian tradition of Cortazar & Borges; its language is by turns stark & elaborate, brutal in its economy & yet poetic in its imagery.

"To enter the space of All My Goodbyes is to cross a threshold into a broken world... Like forensic archaeologists, we sift through the debris left behind by the narrator’s restless European years: the people & the places; the serial, menial jobs; the budding relationships; the houses that could have been made a home... This novella captures the unnerving experience of scientific doubt - a contagious sense, which the narrator learned early from her father, that the world is not what it seems."  — Anna MacDonald, 3:AM Magazine
